The mine was dark, darker than night dark and if it wasn't from Maria's glowing sun rod the group would be walking into the walls and each other. As they descended the main tunnel of the mine they all noticed that some sort of fight had happened here recently, multiple footprints some of which were not human and splatters of blood lay on the floor as evidence. Ivan also noticed that someone or something had been hacking away at the wooden struts and supports to the mine leaving some dangerously close to collapsing.
After a short walk, the tunnel opened into a small rough rectangle chamber where odd chunks of rock scattered across the floor gave off a dull glint as the sunrod’s light touched them. The majority of these rocks could be found round an upturned mining cart which on closer inspection had the lower half of a body protruding from underneath.
Dried blood smeared across some of the walls was also evident along with the 2 other passages leading east and west from this room. Ox immediately set about wandering around the room and collecting the glinting rock which they now assumed were chunks of silver ore. Whilst the others cautiously approached the cart, smelling a possible set up, Leonid set to work inspecting the area to see if was trapped or rigged in anyway.
After spending a good half hour searching Leonid finally sighs and confirms that the area does indeed appear to be clear. Then just as they begin to move the cart a very thin thread of wire snaps which had been cleverly hidden on the cart and above a small stone falls to the ground.
As the stone struck the floor, the mine was filled with a large explosion of noise which echoed off the walls for what seemed like minutes. Once silence again reined tjhe group look to Leonid and began to discuss what just happened but it soon came apparent that both Leonid and Ivan had been left deafened from the after effect of the trap.

Now not only did the group have to deal with an possible unknown enemy but this unknown enemy surely knew that the group was within the mines and from this point the tables had been turned, they no longer had the element of surprise. Of course the other issue is now that 2 members of the group could not hear, thankfully Maria confirmed that it wasn't a permanent effect but for how long it would last she could not answer.
Reluctantly the group motion to carry on and head down the eastern passage to what ever awaited them, after a short walk down the corridor they find a wooden door blocks the way forward.
A quick attempt to open the door revealed that it was locked and with no obvious keyhole for the sneaky types to pick the group have no choice to back off down the corridor to give Ox enough room to work his muscle on the wooden portal.
The large fighter shoved and bashed at the door. When it finally flew open it was followed by a short yelp and a blood curdling crack as what ever was hiding behind the door had its life squeezed out of it as the door smashed into the wall.

Unfortunately for Ox though the creature wasn't alone as he followed through with the door. A barrage of crossbow bolts came flying through the air, of the 8 fired only 2 connected with the big oaf with one tearing through a soft spot in his armour causing serious damage.
Ox pulled the crushed reptilian corpse from behind the door and took its place as cover to lick his wounds hoping that Maria would soon provide aid. The rest of the group seeing Ox take such a hit cautiously approach the room beyond the door.
The room appeared to be some sort of dinning area with a large fire pit along one of the walls, at the opposite end sat an over turned table behind it 8 lizard like creatures (Kobolds) can be seen rapidly trying to reload their crossbows.

Leonid & Ivan took advantage of the shadows in the room and attempted to sneak in and let off a sneak attack from their ranged weapons resulting in one less Kobold. Govan rushed into the room next letting off a missile of magical energy almost taking out another of the critters, Maria feeling confident that her comrades in the room would be able to provide her cover made her way in and set to work healing some of Ox's wounds.
Now with some of Ox's strength returned, the fight is soon short lived as he cleaved his way through the group of Kobolds as Govan blasted them with spells, Leonid shooting from this Short bow and Ivan cleverly shooting out loose rocks from the ceiling onto the critters heads below.
Eventually only one Kobold was left and seeing his fight was now pointless he threw down his crossbow and raised his hands in surrendering motion as the mighty Ox slowly approached him with that killer look in his eyes and his blood covered sword.

Now that the Kobold had soiled himself as Ox stared down at him, Ivan started to tie its hands to its feet before any interrogation could begin. Luckily for them not only did Govan understand the lizard’s tongue but he is also able to hear unlike his other 2 comrades.
The interrogation didn’t last long nor did the Kobold need much convincing, the group found out that the Kobolds had attacked the mine for the silver and were dying from some strange illness. The other door leading out of this room lead a pantry, the Kobold leader was else where in the mine and was a spell caster and they all feared some strange creature which had been stealing the dead bodies of the miners that they'd been piling up.
After all the information was gathered Ivan released the Kobold from his mortal bonds and set about retrieving his rope. Wounds tended, arrows partially reclaimed and bodies looted, the group stands in front of the only other door out of the dinning area which if the now bleeding Kolbold has told them correctly leads into the pantry and a dead-end.
Still suffering from the deafness of the thunderstone Ivan & Leonid prove slightly unhelpful at listening to anything behind the door, Govan instead took centre stage and after hearing nothing from behind the door he then swung the wooden portal open to reveal.....
A pantry! Yep the Kobold had told the truth, there it stood a small room with barrels, shelves and sacks or that’s how it seemed to Govan at least. With confidence the Sorcerer boldly stepped into the room and as he did the sound of a small "click" could be heard followed only meer seconds later by a dust cloud of flour that covered Govan head to toe.
Partially blinded by the flour, Govan had no time to react to the two 5ft tall weasels that burst out from the flour bags at the end of the room and attacked Govan instantly dropping him to the ground with his rich red blood staining the white flour covered floor.
With Govan down the Dire Weasels turn their attention to the other group members, dashing straight for Ox and Maria. Maria dodges just in time to avoid one of the weasels attacks but now with this weasel in the way she fears of reaching Govan in time to save him. Ox on the other hand wasn’t as lucky and finds that the second weasel has not only bitten into his throat but clings there with an iron grip.
