There wasn’t much delay in getting the second door open,
after Ivan put his ear to the door and confirmed that he could not hear
anything beyond. The door opened into an exact duplicate of the previous room
minus the glowing pillars, the only other difference is there was no sound in
the room.
It wasn’t till they tried to talk to each other that they
noticed that they too could not make or hear a sound. Maria soon realised that
the entirety of the room had a spell of Silence placed upon it which she
explained to the group as they re-entered the room with glowing pillars.
They returned to the silent room and searched around for any
items of note or value only to find nothing. The group then gathered around the
only other exit from this room and attempted to listen at the door in a room
where noise does not exist.
The door opened into a corridor that ran north to south,
reviewing the map they had the group decided that north would take them to
areas they have yet to explore and undiscovered treasures.
The corridor eventually ended at a dead end with a single
open doorway on the right hand side of the wall. The group slowly approached to
the sounds of scratching, as they peered through the doorway a pile of Orc and
Darkmantle bodies lay all over the floor.
It was obvious that a fight had taken place here recently at
great cost to both sides, the dire rats mistaking the group as a threat to
their decomposing food pile attacked the adventurers without a seconds thought.
The fight was short lived and apart from the odd scratch and
bite wound the group suffered no injuries. Eventually after a number of rooms
filled with nothing but corpses, as they opened one of the doors it suddenly
slammed shut on them as something ran into the door on the other side.
As Ox ran at the door for a second time it almost gave way
but then slammed shut again followed by a quiet whimper. Govan and Ivan hearing
the whimper stopped Ox from his self inflective assault on the door and
explained to the oaf that someone was obviously behind the door.
What ensued was ten minutes of Ox shouting threats and abuse
at the door whilst Govan attempted to talk the stranger from beyond the door. Once
Ox had been muted from his door smashing count down the door slowly opened and
an pale Orc stepped into the corridor.
There stood Turag, the whimpering Orc whom upon
interrogation revealed that he was a bit of a coward and was never good in any
fight so ran and hide whilst his brothers where slaughtered.
Govan then proceeded to ask Turag about the location of
Buttrog, when a confused look appeared not only on the Orc’s face but the rest
of the groups was when Govan clicked that he had gotten the name wrong.
Shortly corrected the group learned that Ratman (aka
Buttrog) was somewhere in the complex and seeking a great treasure store. After
much discussion and dead end answers, the group as a majority decided to let
Turag go and watched him run away down the corridor towards the corpses of his
brothers and their weapons before continuing on with their exploration.
